Iced Coffee Recipes
Go straight to the iced coffee recipes
Summer morning and heat is already twinkling in the air. I am irritatingly thirsty but hot coffee just doesn't feel right. Ice, yes, plenty of ice would help but I'd also want some coffee. Ha, iced coffee must be the answer but how do I make one without ruining the moment?
It's my husband Milan who has used and produced by far the most intriguing set of iced coffee recipes I am aware of. He claims you can literally make iced coffee out of every basic coffee beverage if only you wake up a sufficient amount of your cocktail-making imagination. Milan is therefore taking the lead in this section of the Yummy Coffee and Food website. He has, is and will be testing iced coffee recipes out of our dreams. I'm not really sure where he gets all these coffee beverage ideas from but I am convinced he believes in every single one of them and I am reassured by testing what he has produced so far.
Plenty of ice, strong coffee, a variety of spices, fruits and pure imagination are therefore the basic elements for making iced coffee that will make these hot summer days truly spectacular.
Here are some of the best iced coffee recipes that Milan has been working on lately:
OK, these are his recipes but Milan has got some additional iced coffee tips to achieve the perfection.
Iced coffee recipes tips
- Do not leave hot coffee to cool down outside of the fridge for too long to prevent the rapid growth of bacteria that deteriorate the taste (coffee should still be warm when placed into the fridge - around 40 Celsius or 104 Fahrenheit).
- Make plenty of stock for iced coffee that can be stored in the fridge or even frozen. Iced coffee is best when spiced up but you can only pour cold stock into a coffee maker.
- Use ice tea, green tea, fruit tea or even clear juice as the basis for the stock. Milan is trying all sorts of beverages so follow this page closely for updates.
Good to know
- Never place a cup of hot coffee into the fridge as it may damage it and the cup may break because of the sudden temperature difference.
- Brew enough coffee sufficiently ahead of time to allow for cooling and chilling (1 hour minimum).
- Ice cubes can be made completely clear but then water needs to freeze rapidly to prevent the growth of crystals that make the ice semi-translucent. To achieve this effect you need to set the freezer to maximum (minimum temperature) and leave it operating at this level for at least an hour before placing ice cubes container with very cold water into the freezer (you need a really good freezer though).
